Did you realize that the last time an Indian cricket group challenged an arrangement traversing five Test coordinates at home, Sachin Tendulkar was 13 years of age, MS Dhoni only six and Viral Kohli not by any means conceived?
You read that right. It has been 29 years since the keep going five-Test arrangement on Indian soil. Extraordinary, isn't that so?
The last time India facilitated a five-Test arrangement was in 1987, when Pakistan visited and won the challenge 1-0 after an arresting last match in Bangalore in what was Sunil Gavaskar's last Test appearance.
From that point forward, the greatest that India have played in a home arrangement is four Tests, on six events: versus West Indies in 1987-88, Australia in 2004, 2008 and 2013, England in 2012 and most as of late South Africa in 2015. Far from home, India last played a five-Test arrangement in England in 2014. That arrangement, which England won 3-1 in the wake of trailing, was their initial five-Test apparatus since the voyage through the West Indies in 2002.
Preceding 1987, five and six-Test arrangement were significantly more normal than in from the 1990s onwards. Before 1987, India had facilitated 18 arrangement of no less than five Tests, beginning from the 1948-49 visit by West Indies.
Groups like England, Australia, West Indies and South Africa have stayed occupied with five-Test arrangement more than some other group in the most recent two decades. The Ashes since 1998-99 have been five-Tests arrangement - the last challenge of six matches was in 1997 - and outside that mythical competition, England have played five-coordinate arrangement on eight events in the course of recent years. Australia, aside from the Ashes, have played only one arrangement of five Tests in the most recent decade, against West Indies in 2000-01. West Indies have played seven such arrangement and South Africa six.
Strangely, the last time New Zealand highlighted in a progression of five Test matches was in 1971-72. Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh have never played a five-coordinate series.b
